Basque Rebel Musik Fest.
Itziarren Semeak is a brass driven ska, punk and reggae party band that also mixes folk music from the Basque Country, a small nation in the north of Spain and south of France. Itziarren Semeak sings in basque language, but they have some songs also in spanish. In 2017 the band is celebrating ten years career with their last album EH Republik.

From the very beginning, they have proclaimed themselves as proud heritors of the RRV (Rock Radical Vasco – Basque Radical Rock). RRV was a hugely important 80s musical movement in the Basque Country, which brought new musical style to the scene. It has had and enormous influence in contemporary Basque musicians). They couldn’t possibly stand at the first row in the 80s, but they have always kept in their hearts that particular way of looking at the world, which the RRV bands first claimed.

Based in those influences, they have always tried to make their own way mixing ska, punk and reggae music with traditional folk songs, defending their ideas and having fun at the same time. Itziarren Semeak gigs are a big party for public and musicians. Dance and jump are the only option for the band.

The band’s name comes from the song “Itziarren semea” (Itziar’s son) by the hugely important basque traditional singers “Pantxoa eta Peio”. It is a song against torture, and it perfectly illustrates how the band’s philosophy is to sing in favor of the oppressed and against the powerful.

First gig in 2007, first demo recorded in June 2008.

-Played in over 400 gigs between 2007 and 2017.

-They’ve played in all the festivals of the Basque capitals (Donostia, Bilbo, Gasteiz, Iruñea and Baiona), in front of hundreds of people. They have also offered gigs in big music festivals such as Gazte Herria, Gazte Danbada, Ibilaldia, Korrika or Euskal Herria Zuzenean.
– They have recorded several music videos in collaboration with the Ballet Olaeta. In addition, the band usually includes traditional Basque dance shows to their live concerts.

SONGS

– Recorded the song “Matxinen etxea” (Matxin’s house) in favor of the Youth Assembly of Mungia in June 2010.

– Recorded a song in favor of the squat house Zazpi katu from Bilbao in December 2011.

– Recorded the song “Askapen izarrak” in favor of the internationalist group Askapena.

-Recorded the song “Egunero Alkarregaz’ for Ibilaldia 2017, in favor of the schools from Bizkaia and basque language.

– They have participated in compilations such as Borrokanrola Faxismoaren aurka (2010) –Rock and roll against fascism–, Mad Butchers (2013) or Rebel Sounds (2011-2012).

TOURS
-London Basque Solidarity Sound System, festival celebrated in the venue The Jam in Brixton.
– In December 2012 they toured through Cuba with the “Dale Candela Tour”, invited by the Cuban Rock Association and the Saiz Brothers’ Association cultural group. They kept a public diary of their Cuban experiences in the digital Basque newspaper NAIZ.

-March 2013: They played 2 gigs in Ireland and one gig in Catalonia.

-Recorded a live LP of their gig at the Bilbo festivals in August 2013.

-In 2014 toured Andalucia (south of Spain) and Madrid.
-In november 2014 tour in Argentina & Chile. They kept a public diary in the digital newspaper NAIZ.
-In 2015, gigs in Belfast & Dublin.
-In 2016 tour in England, Scotland, Germany, Austria and Slovenia, participating in festivals and gigs in venues.
-Recorded a live LP in Mungia festivals, celebrating 10 years.
-In 2017, another tour in Ireland participating in Live Injection Ska Fest and Europe.

Rebel Musik Fest. Ska, punk eta reggae PARTY banda. Munduko eta Euskal Herriko folk doinuak eta dantzak ere nahasten dituzte kantuetan. RRVren semeak direla ozen aldarrikatu dute hastapenetatol. Ezin izan zuten lehen lerroan egon 80.hamarkadan, baina beti eraman dute munduari begiratzeko modu hori bihotzean. Iturri hartatik edanda, euren bidea egin dute sinesten dituzten ideiak jai giroan aldarrikatuz.

Taldearen izena, Euskal Herriko kultura musikala ulertzeko ezinbestekoak diren Pantxoa eta Peio bikotearen “Itziarren semea” kantutik hartu zuten. Torturaren kontrako aldarrikapen horrek erakusten du, taldearen filosofia boteretsuen kontra eta zapaldutakoen alde abestea dela.

2006an batu ziren lehen aldiz Mungiako lokaletan. Lehen kontzertua 2007ko apirilean eman zuten Mungiako Gazte Asanbladaren eskutik eta uda horretan hainbat kontzertu eskaini zituzten eskualdeko herriko jai ezberdinetan.

2008ko ekainean lehen diskoa grabatu zuten Ondarroako Santos Records-en. Hamar kantu propio izan ziren. 2010eko otsailean “Bizkaiko Golfoak” diskoa grabatu zuten Andoaingo Garate estudioetan, Kaki eta Martxel Arkarazo aritu zirelarik teknikari lanetan.  Disko honi esker 50 kontzertu baino gehiago emateko aukera izan zuten eta 2011ko martxoa eta apirila artean “Lehen lerroan” izeneko diskoaren grabaketa etorri zen, berriro ere Andoaingo Garate estudioetan Kaki Arkarazaroren gidaritzapean. 2012 hasieran EP berri bat kaleratu zuten “Basque of Brixton” izenburupean eta urte bukaeran, Durangoko azokan, “Dale Candela” lan luzea aurkeztu zuten.

Urte bukaeran Kuban zehar zazpi kontzertuko bira bat burutu zuten eta Irlandan eta Bartzelonan ere izan ziren 2013an. Abenduan bukatu zen Dale Candela Tour, 60 bat kontzertu eskaini ondoren eta amaiera emateko Bilboko Aste Nagusian zuzenean grabaturiko Bizkaiko Golfoak kantaren bideoklipa aurkeztu zuten.

2014an RETOUR bira abiatu zuten otsailean Kalera rock jaialdian. 25 kontzertutik gora eskaini dituzte 2014an zehar Ibilaldia eta Herri Urrats bezalako jaialdietan parte hartuz. Andaluzia eta Madrilen ere izan ziren taldea ezagutarazten.

Aldi berean, Revolta diskoa prestatu zuten urte guztian zehar Kaki Arkarazorekin batera. Urri bukaeran aurkeztu ondoren, azaroan Argentina eta Chilen izan ziren Sudaska festibalean parte hartzeko gonbitea jaso ostean. 2015ean etxean aurkeztuko dute Revolta diskoa izen bereko birarekin. Dagoeneko 400 zuzeneko emanaldi baino gehiago eskaini dituzte beren ibilbidean zehar.

2017ko martxoan EH Republik izeneko disko berria kaleratu dute Baga Biga diskoetxearekin. Arrasateko Shot estudioetan grabatutakoa da Iñaki Bengoaren eskutik.

CASTELLANO
Itziarren Semeak se define como una fiesta musical de rebeldes vascos irredentos. Mezclan ska, punk y reggae con folk de raíces vascas y música popular. Proclaman sin complejos que son hijos del RRV (Rock Radical Vasco). No pudieron vivir este movimiento cultural en primera línea durante los 80, pero siempre han llevado dentro esa forma de entender el mundo. Partiendo desde esta base, pretenden escribir su propio camino reivindicando las ideas en las que creen en un tono festivo. Los conciertos son una fiesta en la que no quedan más opciones que saltar y bailar.

El nombre del grupo lo cogieron de la canción “Itziarren semea” de los cantautores Pantxoa eta Peio, un duo musical fundamental para entender la realidad política, social y cultural de Euskal Herria. Esta canción en contra de la tortura simboliza la filosofía de un grupo que defiende que siempre cantará en contra de los poderosos y a favor de los oprimidos.

Los inicios del grupo datan de 2006 cuando comenzaron a ensayar en los locales de Mungia (Bizkaia). En abril de 2007 ofrecieron su primer concierto de la mano de la Gazte Asanblada de Mungia. Ese mismo verano actuaron en varias fiestas de pueblos de su comarca.

En junio de 2008 grabaron su primer demo en los estudios Santos Records de Ondarroa. Fueron diez canciones propias, que les sirvieron para darse a conocer por gaztetxes y pueblos de Euskal Herria. En 2010 grabaron el disco “Bizkaiko Golfoak” en los estudios Garate de Andoain con Kaki y Martxel Arkarazo, un disco que supuso un salto para el grupo. A raíz de este disco  ofrecieron más de 50 conciertos haciendo el Golfo de Bizkaia por toda Euskal Herria y comenzaron a preparar un nuevo disco que saldría a la luz en mayo de 2011. Editado bajo el título de “Lehen lerroan”, fue grabado en los estudios Garate de Andoain bajo la dirección técnica de Kaki Arkarazo. A principios de 2012 publicaron un nuevo EP con el título “Basque of Brixton” y cerraron el año con la presentación de un nuevo LP: “Dale Candela”.

Antes de acabar el año completaron una gira de siete conciertos por Cuba. En 2013 ofrecieron conciertos por todo Euskal Herria y también actuaron en Londres (Brixton noviembre de 2012), Irlanda y Barcelona. La fiesta final de Korrika en Baiona, Kilometroak, Euskal Herria Zuzenean y Aste Nagusia de Bilbo son otros de los conciertos multitudinarios.

La gira Dale Candela Tour finaliza en diciembre y al mismo tiempo presentan un videoclip con la canción Bizkaiko Golfoak grabada en directo en el concierto ofrecido en fiestas de Bilbo.

En febrero de 2014 arrancan con la gira RETOUR con nuevos componentes en la banda. Itziarren Semeak ha ofrecido más de 25 conciertos durante este año participando en festivales como Kalera Rock, Herri Urrats e Ibilaldia ante miles de personas.

En octubre de 2014 presentan REVOLTA, producido por Kaki Arkarazo, y en noviembre emprenden una gira que les llevará por Argentina y Chile tras recibir la invitación para participar en el festival Sudaska. Además de presentar el disco por Euskal Herria en 2015 y 2016 realizan distintas giras pasando por Irlanda, Inglaterra, Escocia, Eslovenia, Alemania y Austria.

En 2017 presentan EH Republik de la mano de la discográfica Baga Biga y grabado en los estudios Shot de Arrasate. Itziarren Semeak ha ofrecido ya más de 400 c0nciertos a lo largo de su trayectoria y continúan con muchas ganas de seguir dando guerra. Don`t stop the music!!! Martxa eta borroka!!!
